What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state that we go in and out of several times a day. Hypnosis is like a guided daydream, with the therapist being the guide, The experience of being in hypnosis can be a pleasant, relaxing experience with the client in control at all times.

Hypnosis is a way of bypassing the conscious mind to allow access to the unconscious mind, which is where therapy takes place, different techniques are used to help a client overcome their problem and reach their full potential and to lead the life that they rightfully deserve.

What hypnosis is not?

There are so many misconceptions about hypnosis, most of this knowledge is misunderstanding about clinical hypnotherapy. Clinical hypnotherapy is not stage hypnosis, you are not surrendering your will. I do not have power over you. There is nothing magical or mysterious. In fact you have been in a hypnotic state thousands of times, you never thought about it because it is such a natural state of mind, know as daydreaming, or a trance state.

A good example of this is driving somewhere and not being able to remember any details of the journey, as if you drove on autopilot. Your unconscious mind took over.

This can be a number of reasons, but the most important one is that you as a client must be comfortable and feel safe in the environment they are working in.
